General Discussion / Some links and things

1. We just transited from a BTC mergemined PoW to a crypto industry first all-node-staking PoS protocol demonstrating our community strength / will to innovate during a bear market and making our stakeholder structure decentralized in a true way.

2. We have a clear vision for Crown: a blockchian-as-a-service model, where anybody who wants to work with blockchain is invited to register his/her identity, build/host an applicaiton, transact value, or create any use case imaginable on the Crown chain. Leaving the future of blockchain tech on natural, community-driven forces rather than pushing one usecase and telling people how it should be used.

We are a community driven platform of approximately 5k users mostly from the western part of the world with largest communities coming from the US, UK, Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Spain, Korea, Brazil, Italy, Australia and New Zealand. There is no centralized team, but rather a decentralized model of contributors, our communication channels are open and transparent. Our community meets in person 3 to 4 times a year since December 2016 when we first for the first time in London.

Wallet / Exchange / Electrum manual server adding
« on: March 02, 2019, 10:21:44 am »
There is a temporary issue with electrum wallet's server list.
Here's the quick and dirty fix:
Add the following IP's to the wallet:
88.166.223.93
139.59.29.11
67.205.154.19
178.62.22.23
146.185.165.149
107.170.221.232
159.203.19.13
139.59.154.34

Here's some pictures on how to do it:
Open the settings by pressing the (likely red) circle:

Go to the server tab and de-select automatic selection checkbox:

Add the IP, the port remains unchanged:

Now select the newly added server(s):

If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Proposal Document
The proposal document can be found here

Project Details

Project purpose
The Crown project needs several IT services to run. This includes Gitlab for code development, website hosting so new users can find the project and other bitcoin-fork  specific services.
This proposal is to cover the costs of the old subscriptions that are currently running. Besides that we try to cover as much of the costs community member pjcltd has by making services of his hosting company available.

Sidenote:
I (edwardmorra) will not request funds this month for my personal time, I feel it best to let it up to the community to donate what they think my work is worth. I choose to do so as the superblock is under quite a load as it is and I think infrastructure cost should come first.
My CRW address is: 19SDFgjumZyrRCtpzPdWeUMMs4oJ9w7D13

Ambition/Intention

The ambition of this proposal is to have crown infrastructure costs covered. This proposal’s project is to streamline system administration of the past 4 years into 1 as cost effective operation as possible so any bear market can be survived.

Proposal timetable and turning point(s)

As of right now there are 35+ servers running. Some of these are running at a too high cost.
12th of January is intended to be the moment where as much as possible of the infrastructure is on the hosting environment of pjcltd.
The migration/new setup of the infrastructure is time intensive and comes with hurdles like access details being spread wide.
Next superblock the intent is to not have to exchange CRW into fiat as pjcltd accepts crown as payment.
Acceptance criteria

This proposal can be called a success when migration and cost cutting doesn’t disturb the network infrastructure. For now it is most important the services keep running.

Risks

The migration methods used have so far not impacted the general operation of the Crown Project, once a server is copied it can be tweaked/setup in a sandbox-like environment. This means there is almost no risk involved with the cost-reduction part of this proposal.
The cost coverage part has 1 significant risk: Price decrease.
To try and hold of that risk the requested crown will be turned into FIAT asap. Thereby knowing how much of the cost is covered, so I (edwardmorra) can find other ways to cover the costs. Besides that pjcltd has agreed to help out with the cost see below.

Funding requirements

See google doc for cost breakdown here
*** Extra USD gathered due to higher price then expected will roll over into next month***

Total CRW: 7830

 Costs cut so far.

170 Dollars from digital Ocean culling/migrating

70 By migrating nextcloud

99 By migrating Mattermost

Communication
Next proposal will contain an update about the cost situation, besides that @edwardmorra can be pinged in discord and will stay in contact with the contributors.

Additional comments
Provide additional comments on your proposal if you have any.

This is the first version of the proposal document. If changes are made, they will be indicated.

shutting them down and destroying the vps servers will work, when you can/want to set them up again just edit the IP's by rightclicking the respective systemnode in the wallet. From there you can press edit.
Once edited do the setup of the systemnodes like in the guide from step 6 forward.

General Discussion / Re: Web shop in CRW
« on: November 10, 2018, 07:52:37 am »
Giving a little background information: I am setting up this webshop, a lot of personal funds and 2 contributors have spent CRW and BTC to make this happen. The partner of choice is Blockchain Denim. They are ready for production.

Hosting on one of the crown servers does not seem necessary for me, I can do it myself as well. It keeps the personal liability which I as an individual will have more under control.

I think the synced crown wallet giving a discount that is a little bit more then the fee Coinpayments asks is a good idea.

I just installed my first Systemnode!  :)

I used arubacloud.com and got myself a VPS for $1/month.

Make sure your server is up to date. Login to your server using PuTTY and run the following command:
sudo apt-get upgrade

Then follow the above instructions and you'll be up and running in no time.

I wanted to register an account also on Aruba Cloud but they wanted my ID card number for security reasons.. is it something to trust? because the 1 dollar VPS price is just to awesome....

Thanks !!
Hey I haven't done the ID card thing but I do use their service.... once you are ready to set up make sure to not use the Legacy, OLD guide ;) https://forum.crown.tech/index.php?topic=7705.msg8218#msg8218

Systemnodes / Re: Systemnode keeps going offline
« on: September 06, 2018, 06:40:53 am »
Hello. I am having the same problem. I just discovered my node had been offline for over a month, and realized I needed to update wallet.

When I enter my wallet now (it is  v0.12.5.1) my node says missing, and I successfully restart it.

Next time I come to check it, it is offline again.

When I use crown-cli getinfo, I get this info:

"version" : 120401,
    "protocolversion" : 70052,
    "walletversion" : 61000,
    "balance" : 0.00000000,
    "blocks" : 1987739,

crown-cli systemnode status says Systemnode successfully started

Can you please help with this issue?

your local wallet is on the right version but vps, so the systemnode is wrong...

Could you have that as a criteria for the aplicable things (a picture with a person turned to vector is in my opinion a waste of time  ;D )
